Without any doubt, your clothes will last longer with regular cleaning and adequate care. Here are some tips on what you can do to preserve your washable and dry cleaning garments to avoid colors fading and fabrics wearing out.

Never store your clothes in the closet immediately after taking them off. Be sure to let them air out at least for some 30-40 minutes. Hang them outside your closet before storing them. This rule applies to your jackets, suits, skirts, sweaters, coats, and shirts or blouses you intend to wear in the coming days. The same rule applies to your shoes. They need some ventilation too.

Never leave the light on in your closet, as dyes are sensitive to it. Sunlight can fade colors too. Never leave your clothes near the windows with a direct flow of the sun. 

Garments and shoes regain their shape when they breathe. To preserve their excellent condition, you have to rotate them regularly, especially jackets, blazers, and sweaters, as well as all your shoes.

Be careful with perfume, hairspray, lotions, sunscreen, and other personal care products. All of them can fade, discolor or stain your clothes. Therefore, use these products before getting dressed.
